From indigenous communities dating back thousands of years, to the arrival of the cedar getters, the conflicts, European settlement, land grants, to rapid growth of agriculture and commerce, contemporary Maitland is a product of its rich past.

Maitland Heritage Fest 2021 is a community event aiming to share, celebrate and promote Maitland’s history with historically inspired displays, demonstrations, food, heritage walks, house tours, ghost tours, town crier, penny farthing demonstrations, bell tower tours, vintage cars and tradional crafts, spinning weaving & lace making, woodworking and expert restoration advice.
A variety of musical performances & bush poetry.
Plus children’s activities such as 19th Century games & a puppetry perfomance
