Hear the Maitland City Pipes and Drums in St Mary’s grounds

Nothing quite like the sound of a pipe band and the St Mary’s grounds is a wonderful place to hear the Maitland City Pipes and Drums.
Having just celebrated 75 years, the City of Maitland Pipes and Drums is part of a long history stretching back to the ancient origins of Scotland, Ireland and all Celtic peoples. The band was formed in 1947 and wear the Clan Maitland tartan, a restricted tartan belonging to the Lords of Lauderdale, the head of Clan Maitland.
The band offers free tuition to financial members and are always on the lookout for new people to join.
With a constantly growing repertoire, Including the more recognizable tunes and marches, expect to hear a few of the more modern jigs and reels.
Sunday only – 19th June : 11.45 and 12.40 (St Mary’s Church Grounds)
Visit band page for more about the band.
